Dear colleagues!

In the pages of the first issue of Polytrauma journal in 2019, we again present a lot of important and modern findings on the range of actual theoretical and clinical problems of polytrauma and adjacent fields.

So, health care managers will show interest to the materials of analysis of epidemiologic data of acquired cranial defects in patients after traumatic brain injury by the example of a big industrial city.

The authors of the original study estimate the clinical use of their model for prediction of complications with aim of efficient surgical management of patients with proximal femoral fractures.

One of the articles in the section “Anesthesiology and critical care medicine” offers the clinical estimation of efficiency of massive infusion-transfusion therapy for patients with polytrauma. Another article presents a way of optimization of intensive therapy in acute period of severe thermal injury with use of invasive monitoring of central hemodynamics.

The publication in the section “Clinical aspects of surgery” is dedicated to estimation of the uniform non-invasive technique for presurgical estimation of parameters of laparotomy approach in surgery of upper abdominal cavity.

The articles of traumatologist-orthopedists offer the comparison of surgical approaches in reverse replacement of shoulder joint and the analysis of results of surgical treatment of rigid plain-valgus foot in children with use of subtalar arthroereisis. The young scientists investigate the results of microsurgical discectomy for treatment of lumbosacral intervertebral hernia. They present the evidence of excellent and good results of treatment in most patients.

It is known that chest organs injuries are related to ones of the most severe damages, but cardiac injuries are often diagnosed lately, considering the presence of other injuries. Today we would like to present a case of efficient treatment of incomplete rupture of left ventricle in a child, as well as cardiac laceration in a patient with the associated injury. Another clinical case demonstrates the result of successful treatment of a patient with Gustilo-Anderson type 3 opened fracture of the left leg in the upper one-third.

The review articles discuss the modern state of the problem of treatment of patients with ongoing intrapelvic bleeding after unstable pelvic ring injuries, and actual visions of development, progression and therapeutic approaches in treatment of posttraumatic osteoarthritis.

Despite of increasing awareness, a lot of disputable and unsolved issues remain. We are glad to continue our cooperation in the new year and are ready to select and publish only the most important and actual information for you. Thank you for your belief regarding our journal!
