Dear colleagues!

The year 2020 is going to end. It was very difficult − COVID-19 pandemic has brought changes in all spheres of life, including organization of scientific activity, which is currently being realized in online mode.

All this year we have been supporting connections with you, realizing timely and free approach to the most actual data on our internet-source www.poly-trauma.ru.

In this issue, we continue to write about modern scientific studies and practical cases relating to important problems of polytrauma and adjacent disciples. The organizational aspects of healthcare have been presented by two studies: one of them is dedicated to optimization of arrangement of emergency medical care for victims of road traffic accidents; another one presents an analysis of possibilities for arrangement of interregional medical care during management of consequences of emergency situations.

Among actual studies, one should note a study with an analysis of clinical and metabolic manifestations of systemic inflammatory response in patients with new coronavirus COVID-19 complicated by community-acquired pneumonia in critical states.

There are some interesting clinical cases. So, the experience with treatment of a patient with consequences of a concomitant injury in view of an atrophic false joint of the distal one-third of the femoral bone treated with multi-stage surgical management. There is a rare case of hemopericardium with heart tamponade in the long term period after the concomitant injury, as well as a case of a rare early complication after ventricular-peritoneal shunting in a child with inborn occlusive hydrocephalus.

As for rehabilitation issues, the use of clinical stabilometric characteristics of vertical posture in patients with brain pathology of various origin has been reviewed. The authors believe that knowledge of details of postural regulation with consideration of a cause of central nervous system injury makes restorative treatment more targeted.

The review study presents an analysis of modern data on neurogenic shock in spine and spinal cord injury. The authors accentuate that efficient strategies of intensive care depend on understanding of physiology of the acute phase of neurogenic shock.

Also we offer a report on the international conference "TRAUMA 2020: the interdisciplinary approach", which was in November.

Completing this work year, we would like to thank all authors who presented their scientific materials, for attention and trust to our journal, as well as to thank the members of the editorial board and team for their professional and cooperated work.

On the eve of New Year 2021, I wish health, well-being and professional success to all our readers and authors. Take care of yourself and your near and dear ones!

Best regards,
